In his session, Mr. Sunesh Parayil highlighted the importance of listening as both an art and a social act essential for educators. Using an activity-based approach, he engaged students in a variety of interactive exercises that fostered collaboration, empathy, and reflective learning.

The major focus areas of the session included:

  1. Listen to Whom & What – Encouraging mindful listening not only to words but also to emotions, silence, and context.
  2. Social Beingness – Understanding that teachers are inherently social beings whose actions influence the moral and emotional climate of society.
  3. Teacher as a Social Endeavour – Viewing teaching as a collective and compassionate pursuit that connects individuals and communities.

Through experiential activities, students realized how listening cultivates togetherness and mutual respect, vital for building inclusive classrooms and nurturing democratic learning spaces.

The session concluded with reflective sharing by the students, expressing how the activities helped them perceive listening as a powerful pedagogical tool. The event successfully reinforced the idea that the art of listening lies at the heart of meaningful teaching and human connection.
