The seventh session of the Students Induction Programme (SIP) for the ITEP 2025–2029 Batch was conducted on 24 September 2025 in the Audio Visual Hall. The session, titled “Group Dynamics,” was led by Dr. V.T. Jayaram, Head of the PG Department of English at Majlis Arts and Science College.

Dr. Jayaram explored the nature and significance of group interactions in educational contexts, emphasizing that understanding group behavior is essential for effective classroom management and collaborative learning. The session focused on the following key areas:

  1. Group Dynamics – Understanding how individuals interact within groups and how these interactions influence learning outcomes.
  2. Nature of Groups in Classrooms – Examining the formation, structure, and functioning of student groups, and the role of teachers in facilitating positive group environments.
  3. Sociometry for Teachers – Introducing sociometric techniques to assess relationships, preferences, and social patterns within classroom groups, helping teachers to promote inclusivity and cooperation.

Through discussions and practical examples, Dr. Jayaram highlighted the importance of observing and analyzing group behavior to foster engagement, collaboration, and a supportive learning atmosphere. The session encouraged students to reflect on the ways teachers can guide groups constructively to enhance both academic and social outcomes.

The session concluded with participants gaining a clear understanding of how group dynamics influence classroom learning and how teachers can strategically employ sociometric insights to create harmonious and effective learning communities.
