A field visit to Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary was organized by the Botany and Zoology departments of Majlis Arts and Science College, Puramannur, for the students of the Department of Education based on their botany syllabus on 31st January (Saturday). The visit was accompanied by teachers Soumya A. K. and Suseel T. S. The trip began from the college campus at 7:00 a.m., and we reached Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary at 9:45 a.m. After reaching the destination, students were briefed about the sanctuary and safety measures. The main attraction of the visit was a boating experience through the mangrove forests, which provided a beautiful and educational journey through the backwaters. During the boat ride, various species of birds, mangroves, and aquatic life were observed, helping students understand the richness of the ecosystem. At around 12:30 p.m., we had lunch at the sanctuary premises. Following this, the authorities of Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary explained in detail about the sanctuary, including the importance of mangroves, migratory birds, biodiversity conservation, and ecological balance. The session was highly informative and helped enhance our understanding of environmental studies. At 2:00 p.m., we returned from the sanctuary after a memorable and enriching learning experience under the guidance of our teachers.
