The Department of Education (ITEP) organised a visit to VKM Special School, Puramannur on 16 October 2025 in connection with the Food Fest hosted by the school. The visit aimed to provide ITEP students with meaningful exposure to inclusive practices, special education settings, and community engagement initiatives.
A team of ITEP students participated in the visit, accompanied by Dr. Naseerali M.K., Head of the Department of Education, and faculty members Soumya A.K., Suseel T.S., Rafa Aboobacker, and Haridas K.U.
During the visit, students actively interacted with the children of the special school, observed the various stalls arranged as part of the Food Fest, and appreciated the creativity and efforts of the learners and staff. The event offered students valuable insights into the functioning of special schools and the significance of experiential learning activities for children with diverse needs.
The visit helped strengthen the students’ understanding of inclusive education and fostered empathy, sensitivity, and professional responsibility. The Department expressed gratitude to VKM Special School for their warm reception and for providing the students an enriching learning experience.
