Report on SEP, Communication skills for prospective teachers
The Department of Education, Majlis Arts and Science College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the English Club, organized a Skill Enhancing Program (SEP) on “Communication Skills for Prospective Teachers” on 13 January 2026. The session was held at the ITEP Lecture Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The resource person for the program was Ms. Shana Shirin P.B., Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department of English, Majlis College. The session aimed to develop effective communication skills among prospective teachers, emphasizing the importance of confidence, clarity, and fluency in professional teaching contexts.
The programme began with the anchoring by Haneena.T. M. Followed by a warm welcome address by Mrs. Rafa Aboobacker, Assistant Professor, Department of Education.The dignitaries on the dias were felicitated by Dr.Naseerali M.K(Head of the department of Education)then Asst professor Shana Shirin led the session with an engaging and interactive presentation, highlighting the key components of effective communication such as verbal and non-verbal cues, classroom interaction, and linguistic etiquette. The session encouraged participants to reflect on their communication styles and develop greater confidence as future educators.
As a token of love and appreciation, Dr. Naseerali, Department of Education, presented a small memento to the resource person.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Navaneeth Krishna K proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker and the organizers for the insightful session. Feedback was also shared by Gopika. P.K and Adheena Raj.P reflecting their appreciation for the informative and motivating session.
The programme concluded on a positive note, inspiring all participants to enhance their communication skills and apply them effectively in their professional journey as teachers.
