Majlis Arts and Science College (Autonomous)
Date: 14 January 2026
Mode: Online
Time: 6.45 PM- 8.30 PM

The Department of Education, Majlis Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organised an online Parents’ Meet for the First Semester students of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) on 14 January 2026. The meeting was convened with the objective of reviewing students’ academic progress, co-curricular engagement, campus life, and to brief parents about the upcoming semester examinations and the remedial measures initiated for identified slow learners.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Suseel T.S., Assistant Professor, who warmly welcomed the parents and highlighted the significance of parental involvement in the holistic development of students.

Following this, the Head of the Department, Dr. Naseerali M.K., elaborately explained the academic framework of the programme, classroom and co-curricular practices, students’ adaptation to campus life, and the evaluation system. He also briefed the parents on the forthcoming semester examinations and detailed the remedial and mentoring initiatives undertaken by the department to support slow learners and enhance overall academic performance.

Parents of all students were present except two, and the session witnessed active participation from the parents. They shared their views and feedback, expressing satisfaction and happiness over the positive behavioural and attitudinal changes observed in their wards since joining the programme. Parents unanimously conveyed their willingness to extend full support to the academic and developmental initiatives undertaken by the department.

A key suggestion raised during the discussion was the need to place greater emphasis on English speaking fluency and communication skills in the upcoming semesters. While appreciating the steps already initiated by the department in this direction, some parents suggested introducing additional dedicated classes or short-term courses to further strengthen students’ communication competencies.

It was also collectively felt that parents’ meetings organised in this interactive online mode should be conducted more frequently, as such engagements help sustain a strong collaborative spirit among teachers, parents, and students.

The meeting was concluded by Dr. Jayaram V.T., who expressed his happiness over the enthusiastic and active participation of the parents. He remarked that although the meeting was scheduled for 30 minutes, it extended to nearly 2.5 hours, which itself reflected the success and relevance of the meeting.

The Parents’ Meet proved to be highly fruitful, reinforcing the importance of strong parent–teacher collaboration in nurturing academic excellence and holistic student development.
