The commencement ceremony of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at Majlis Arts and Science College (Autonomous) was held on 15 September 2025 in the Audio Visual Hall. The event marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the college, aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The programme was attended by faculty members, students of the first ITEP batch, and their parents and guardians.
The session began with the college prayer, setting a serene and inspiring tone for the ceremony.
Welcome Address
Dr. Naseerali M.K., Head of the Department of Education, delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the importance of teacher education and the transformative nature of the ITEP, which integrates general education and professional teacher preparation. He congratulated the learners for choosing a noble path that shapes the future of society.
Moderation
The programme was moderated by Mr. Noushad N, Academic Director, Majlis Arts and Science College, who ensured the smooth conduct of the proceedings.
Presidential Address
Dr. Mohammed Kutty Kakkakunnan, Principal, Majlis Arts and Science College, presided over the function. In his address, he emphasized the institution’s achievements, its advanced academic facilities, and its continuous pursuit of excellence in higher education.
Inaugural Address
The formal inauguration of the first ITEP batch was conducted by Jb. K.S.A. Thangal, President, Majlis Arts and Science College. In his inspiring speech, he remarked that “knowledge of what is unknown is also important in life.” He noted that teachers are truly accepted as “Gurus” only when learners feel the profound impact of their teaching in real life. He expressed the management’s excitement and commitment to making the Department of Education a centre of excellence.
Key-note Address
The key-note address was delivered by Jb. Saleem Kuruvambalam, Chairman, Majlis Arts and Science College, who highlighted the social responsibility of teachers and elaborated on why teaching is considered a noble profession.
Message to Prospective Teachers
Jb. M.P. Musthafal Faizy, General Secretary, Majlis Arts and Science College, addressed the gathering with an insightful message on the challenges and opportunities in the AI-driven classroom era, urging the student teachers to adapt and innovate in the evolving educational landscape.
Interaction with Guardians
An interactive session with the guardians was led by C.P. Hamza, Secretary and Manager, Majlis Arts and Science College, and Member, Syndicate, University of Calicut. He spoke about the need for the transition to ITEP in India, explaining how the NCTE initiated this reform under the NEP 2020 vision to enhance teacher preparation and educational quality.
