The Department of Education’s English Club launched News Chronicles, a daily vocabulary-enrichment initiative aimed at strengthening students’ English language proficiency. As part of the programme, each day one student introduces five new words selected from current news articles, along with their meanings, synonyms, and usage in sentences.
This consistent practice has significantly enhanced students’ vocabulary, reading habits, and confidence in communication. The initiative promotes active learning, peer involvement, and improved language awareness, making it a valuable component of the department’s annual academic activities.
The programme was officially launched on 14 November 2025 by Dr. Naseerali M.K., Head of the Department of Education. Dr. V. T. Jayaram, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, delivered the keynote address. The session began with a Welcome Address by Nida Fathima and concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Rafa Aboobacker, English Faculty.
