REPORT
The Department of Education, Majlis Arts and Science College, organized an Interdepartmental Independence Day Competition on 13th and 14th August 2026, under the initiative of the History Club. The Programme aimed to celebrate the spirit of freedom, patriotism, unity, and national pride through various competitions and activities.
The first phase of the Programme was held on 13th August 2026 at the ITEP Hall, with the elimination round of the Quiz Competition. A total of 24 participants took part in the preliminary round, out of which 10 participants were selected for the second round.
On 14th August 2026, the inauguration and name-revealing ceremony of the History Club was conducted. The club was officially named “Itihasa,” reflecting its connection with history and its significance in understanding the past.
The Programme began with the welcome speech by Rafeedha, Leader of the History Club, who also delivered a brief and meaningful talk on history. The Programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Naseerali M.K, Head of the Department of Education. The presidential address was delivered by Mubeena C, Assistant Professor of History. The Programme was skillfully anchored by Ridha, BA B.Ed. History 2nd Year, and Najila, BA B.Ed. History 1st Year.
The event was honored by the valuable presence of Musthafa Mattathur, Principal of D.El.Ed., Dr. V.T. Jayaram, Head of the PG Department of English, and Sreejith, Assistant Professor of the Department of Sociology.
Following the name-revealing ceremony, the Patriotic Song Competition was conducted with the participation of six groups. The competition showed the students’ musical talents and patriotic spirit. This competition was judged by Ms. Prajitha (Assistant Professor, Department of English), Mrs. Rajesh (Head of the Department of Mathematics) and Dr. V. T. Jayaram (Head of the Department of English). Four groups secured prizes, with the first prize being jointly shared by two groups, followed by the second and third prizes.
Following the patriotic song competition, Speech Competition was conducted with six participants. The topic for the speech competition was “My India.” The participants shared their thoughts and perspectives on India, patriotism, national identity, and their hopes for the country. This competition was judged by our faculty members, Ms. Sowmya A. K. and Ms. Aiswarya P. Among the six participants, three secured the first, second, and third prizes respectively. Along with the speech competition second round of the Quiz Competition was conducted. Four students secured prizes, with the second prize being jointly shared by two participants.
The Programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Minha, BA B.Ed. English 2nd Year, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, teachers, participants, organizers, and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
On 18th August 2026, Dr. Naseerali M.K (Head of the Department of Education) presented certificates to the winners of quiz, speech and patriotic song competitions.
The two-day Programme successfully brought together students from different departments in an atmosphere of healthy competition, creativity, and patriotism. It not only celebrated the spirit of Independence Day but also marked the memorable beginning of the History Club under its new name, Itihasa.
