As part of the 2026 Independence Day celebrations, the Department of Education at Majlis Arts and Science College organized a unique and widespread community engagement initiative titled “Patriotic Presence”. Conceptualized to foster national pride, civic responsibility, and grassroots community bonding, the program instructed students across the department to participate in flag hoisting ceremonies at various local institutions and public organizations throughout Kerala.
Key Highlights & Implementation
- Decentralized Participation: Living up to the true spirit of community integration, day scholars from the Department of Education attended flag hoisting functions at diverse neighborhood institutions, including local Balwadis, schools, Madrasas, and community centers.
- Hosteller & Campus Observance: Demonstrating unified institutional spirit, all hostellers gathered at the Majlis College campus on August 15, 2026, to take part in the formal flag hoisting session held at 7:15 AM.
- Digital Documentation & Verification: As an interactive element of accountability and digital participation, student attendees were mandated to capture a photograph (selfie) at their respective venues and submit it directly to their subject teachers as proof of attendance.
Conclusion
The “Patriotic Presence” initiative successfully bridged formal institutional values with grassroots community participation. By dispersing across various local centers in Kerala, the student educators of Majlis Arts and Science College not only celebrated the nation’s independence with enthusiasm and discipline but also exemplified the vital role of teachers as active community leaders.
